TAILORING

CRAFTING CAREERS

"The intellect always cuts and divides like a pair of scissors. The heart sews things together and unites like a needle. The tailor uses both."

Mata Amritanandamayi

WHY CRAFTING CAREERS?

The Crafting Careers Program is aimed at people affected by forced migration and/or unemployment. The goal of the program is to provide high-quality technical sewing skills, awareness of rights and responsibilities of the Greek labour market and improved language skills. The program is tailored to meet the demands of the fashion production industry and provides opportunities for talented individuals.

According to a recent UNHCR report, a significant number of refugees in Greece possess craft and related trade skills, yet a staggering 76% are currently unemployed.

The main barriers they face are language proficiency and limited access to legal employment opportunities. With 45% reporting worsening financial situations, it is evident that a comprehensive course offering free professional training, employment prospects, and a focus on vocational and language skills is urgently needed to bridge these gaps.
