ANKAA Project is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in 2017, that works with communities affected by forced migration and/or unemployment. ANKAA’s hybrid model of a social enterprise connects its education programmes, focused on social inclusion, with its revenue-generating activities of creating sustainable products under fair and ethical working conditions.
ANKAA’s educational programmes in sewing and Greek language are aimed at supporting students with the necessary tools to rebuild their lives in a sustainable and dignified way. In its professional tailoring lab, ANKAA manufactures customised and sustainable products with a talented team of tailors. With its holistic approach towards social inclusion ANKAA highlights the interconnection between education and employment.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This role is responsible to oversee the production line and the tailoring team (2 people) and occasional tailoring interns. ANKAA produces T-shirts and accessories from natural fabrics and upcycled vinyl/PVC materials (for example bags, T-shirts, accessories). Basic pattern alterations are also needed.​

This role is based in Kipseli, Athens. It is a part-time position (32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 09:00-17:00), starting in February. It starts as a short-term contract with possibility of extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Prepare and cut batches of fabric according to the patterns along with entire team;

Sew products of high quality (bags, accessories, T-Shirts) ;

Organise and maintain production timelines and schedule in coordination with the Sales Manager;

Perform quality control of all finished products according to ANKAA standards;

Make basic alterations to ready patterns;

Ensure patterns are labeled and organised, keeping always the last version;

Responsible for maintaining the tailor lab organised and tidy;

Monitor the level and condition of all the tailoring equipment and organise maintenance when needed;

Regularly check supplies and materials to ensure stock is enough for current orders. Order as needed in coordination with the finance manager;

Supervise tailors and mentor/coach interns in sewing and cutting techniques;

Be the main point of contact for the Sales manager, reporting and informing on progress of the team and highlighting any issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High level of experience in sewing both elastic and steady fabrics on professional sewing machines;

Demonstrate minimum 3 years of practical experience as Tailor;

Ability to deliver high quality products;

Cutting skills;
-
Organisational skills and understanding of priorities;

Attention to detail;

Fluent in English or Greek;

Ability to work independently and to manage people;

Excellent interpersonal skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in managing a production line;

Experience in pattern making and alterations;

Work within strict deadlines.
